Incomparable Solutions for Large-Scale Applications

Cascade produces a wide variety of attachments for the biggest jobs and toughest applications. From the port and harbor industry to the concrete and metal industries, Cascade provides unparalleled solutions for handling the heaviest loads for the largest lift trucks in operation today.

Heavy Lifting with Concrete Handler

When a major US concrete pipe manufacturer needed to do some heavy lifting for a water main construction project in California, they called on Cascade to provide a solution that would uniquely fit their needs. Handling concrete pipes weighing up to 7,500 kg (16,500 lbs) and ranging from 400 mm (16") to 2,235 mm (88") in diameter, Cascade worked closely with the customer to design a big rotating concrete pipe clamp that could easily lift, carry and rotate the pipes for transport.

In order to securely handle this load and eliminate any damage to the concrete pipe walls, special rubber faced pads were created for optimal clamp force distribution.  This specialty unit also incorporates four drive groups, long and short arms with eight clamping cylinders, as well as special hydraulic valves to ensure both a secure grip and sufficient torque to rotate the oversized concrete structures.

Large Handling with High-Volume Pulp Bale Clamp

Another Cascade customer is also able to navigate their way to more efficient handling by successfully implementing a Cascade specialty product in a large-scale application. A full-service European port requested a pulp bale clamp from Cascade that could move their high-volume loads - 64 bales of pulp at once. Handling up to 18,000 kg (39,600 lbs), this is the largest pulp bale clamp Cascade has built to date.

To handle such a substantial number of pulp bales per load, a middle arm was specially designed to ensure precise and secure handling. This clamp's durable design also features equal arm pressure for reduced product damage and a thin arm profile for knifing between tightly stacked bales. These special features now allow the port to quickly and securely transport high-volume cargo from the warehouse to the dock while minimizing downtime and improving productivity.
